The Q-See QSW8209C is a portable surveillance solution that is perfect for monitoring your baby, or any other situation that you need to monitor without actually being in the room. Since you do not need to setup wires between the camera and monitor you can take it with you and use it wherever and whenever you need. The monitor is small enough to carry in your hand, purse or pocket, but is strong enough to receive signals from a camera up to 300 feet away line of sight. It will support up to 3 wireless cameras, and you can even monitor through a TV or to a VCR or DVR if you need to record the video. It also has an audio receiver so you can hear as well as see what is happening, and has a sound and motion alarm to alert you when there is activity in the room. The camera has 9 LEDs to give you a black and white image even in a dark room, and PIR motion detection and microphone to alert you to activity so you do not need to constantly watch the monitor.

What is the difference between a wired and a wireless camera?

Wired cameras have a video cable that runs from the camera to your recording or viewing device such as a DVR, VCR or monitor. Wireless cameras have a built-in transmitter that sends the video signal to a receiver. The receiver connects to your recording or viewing device.

How far can a wireless camera transmit?

Standard wireless cameras can transmit up to 300 feet in line of sight.

How many wireless cameras can you have in one location?

You can have up to four wireless cameras in one location. You can view all cameras at once using four receivers or you can use one receiver and switch to each camera. You will only be able to view one camera at a time if you only use one receiver. If you want to install multiple wireless cameras in one location it's best to order them at the same time so that they can be set to different channels.

Will a cordless phone interfere with wireless cameras?

Cordless phone that operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency will cause interference with 2.4 GHz cameras. Interference should be minimal and usually occurs if the phone is between the camera and receiver.

What is a 2.4 GHz wireless frequency?

A frequency is used to transmit a signal or data like video. 2.4GHz is the specific wireless frequency that our tranmitters use to send video signal to a receiver. All of our wireless cameras operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency. Range varies from 200' to 700' depending on environmental conditions. These units are FCC approved.

Is it possible to experience interference with 2.4Ghz wireless equipment, and what can possibly cause the interference?

It is possible to experience interference from 2.4Ghz phones or wireless internet. Also garage door openers, alarm systems and other devices on the 2.4Ghz frequency can cause interference. Microwave ovens and similar devices can also cause occasional interference.

I bought a wireless camera but I still have to plug it in. How is this wireless?

Wireless cameras do not have a video cable that runs from the camera to the recording device. Like all electronics they must still be powered in order to function.
